Back in spring, just after coming back from Japan all inspired, I pulled together this editorial shoot in collaboration with redwhitebluepink and did something completely different. It is such an important project for me personally- from selecting the props, styling, to implementing a vision in my head into something tangible... I felt like everything came to make sense after this. I've become more aware of my own aesthetic, the subjects that truly speaks to me, and the artistic direction I'd love to follow.

A little introduction to the story:

"Wabi-sabi" is a Japanese term representing an aesthetics centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. A beauty that is imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.

From my travels and experiences in Japan, I was very much inspired by the understated and natural beauty in the Japanese design. Garden covered with moss, bamboo and cobblestones; walls faded with age; tea bowls in rustic and humble shapes. Things are all refined and thoughtfully arranged, but at the same time very organic and imperfect purposely. It is appreciation of natural forms and the organic, flawed beauty from the imperfection.
ith a color palette of black/white, dark gray, wooden and hint of pale pink, Susanne from
Redwhitebluepink reated 2 ikebana arrangements and table settings that celebrate motion and atural forms of the materials. Bridie from The Little North Sea Studi designed amazing stationery combing abstract painted marks, scripts that almost look like Japanese characters and some clean texts.
e had two looks using a veil nd a headpiece rom SIBO Designs nd gowns from Unielle Couture. The fine lace and handmade crystal beads compliments other imperfect elements perfectly.
